Biofeedback Therapy
Biofeedback Therapy
Biofeedback therapy is a type of technique/therapy that helps people improve their health by controlling certain body processes that happen involuntarily. This includes blood pressure, heart rate, skin temperature, and muscle tension. With Biofeedback Therapy, we help you learn techniques that can allow you to improve your health by controlling those involuntary bodily processes.
We Offer These Biofeedback Techniques:
Electroencephalogram: EEG (Electroencephalogram) allows you to monitor the activity of your brain. EEG can help you understand how your brain works when you are calm, sleeping, in deep sleep, relaxed, and fully awake.
Electromyogram: EMG (Electromyogram) uses electrodes to measure muscle tension. EMG helps patients know the early feeling of muscle tension.
Galvanic Skin Response Training: GSRT uses sensors to measure the activity of a patient’s sweat glands and the amount of perspiration on the skin. This allows doctors and staff know the presence of anxiety.
Temperature Biofeedback: Sensors are used in this method, and it is used to measure the temperature of your skin. Lower temperature means the person is under stress.
How Can It Help?
Biofeedback therapy promotes relaxation, and can help a patient to relieve a number of conditions that are related with stress. Biofeedback sessions will help you practice exercises that will help you become more relaxed and to be able to control your body functions.
During a biofeedback session, electrodes are attached to your skin and finger sensors are used. The sensors and electrodes send signals to a monitor, which will then display an image, sound, or flash of light that represents your muscle activity, swearing, skin temperature, blood pressure, and breathing rate. These signals help you to understand more how your body reacts when you’re under stress and when you’re having anxiety attacks.
An experienced biofeedback therapist will look at those signals, and will develop a bunch of exercises that will help you control the functions of your body.
